When Alissa contacted me regarding a Trash the Dress Session, I could barely contain my excitement.. You may remember their amazing wedding from last year: Colorado Wedding Photography slideshow. We got together last week at the Evergreen Lake House (the same site as her wedding reception) for a spectacular session. For those of you not familiar with the concept of ‘Trash the Dress’ the idea is this: it’s an opportunity to get amazing bridal portrait photographs without having to worry about the state of the dress. So the session can be as extreme as the client likes – and in Alissa’s case she was pretty determined to get wet. So after playing around with various props (love her red cowboy boots!) she ventured into the water.  I’ve been dying to post these, but since this was a surprise for her husband Josh, we’ve had to wait on the blog post until today, October 11th,  when they celebrate their first anniversary. So Happy Anniversary, Alissa and Josh! My warmest wishes to you both as you celebrate your first anniversary!

Last week I had the chance to do a trash the dress shooting workshop up in an old ghost town near Central City. It was such a great location with amazing rustic backdrops, fabulous bridal bouquets from Boulder Blooms, and gorgeous model brides to work with. I love taking advantage of opportunities like this.. it’s a chance to shoot for myself without the time constraints of a typical wedding day, and it’s a great opportunity to step out of my comfort zone. For anyone considering doing a bridal session or a trash the dress session I highly recommend it! Here are a few of my favorites..

And of course, when we photogs get together it’s yet another opportunity to get out and shoot! So let me introduce you to Michelle.
