Vendor Spotlight – JS Design Custom

I was first introduced to js design custom when one of my brides sent me a copy of her invitation. The invite, along with the reply card and save the date, arrived all tucked inside a plain unassuming manila envelope, and I was completely unprepared for what was inside. It was jaw-dropping. Literally. I mean, I had seen beautiful invitations, letterpress embossed invitations gorgeously printed on velvety papers .. but this was so completely different and unique. Unlike anything I had ever seen. And given my obsession with –I mean ‘appreciation of’– beautiful paper products, I was completely blown away by the work inside.

I recently had the opportunity to photograph Julie at her boutique storefront located in the Workshops Building near Denver’s Cherry Creek neighborhood. She wanted some updated product shots, as well as a few headshots for her brand new website that she’ll be launching soon. Here’s my favorite – isn’t she stunning? Hair and makeup were expertly done by the talented Carissa of Carissa Beauty. Julie Sandusky is one of the most talented and creative people I know. Billed as a ‘paper and product architect’, she is able to transform a client’s vision into a complete collection of one-of-a-kind stationary and specialty products. With meticulous attention to detail, Julie is always looking for ways to create unique collections. Congratulations Class of 2010! Just wanted to share a few images from one of my favorite high school senior portrait sessions from earlier this year. I love working with high school seniors – they’re so much fun to shoot and I love to custom-tailor their photo session to really reflect their personality. So when Natalie contacted me and mentioned her horse, Hershey, I was so excited! I love that perfect end-of-day light filtering through the grasses.. and she’s such a natural model in front of the camera, vibrant and adorable.. (so is Hershey :)

A couple months ago I attended a networking luncheon up at Della Terra in Estes Park (if you haven’t had a chance to check out this incredible wedding venue, you must. Seriously. Must.) The event featured food catered by Jubi lations Catering, a delectable assortment of desserts by Rachel at Intricate Icings, and gorgeous floral arrangements and centerpieces by Nicole at Swank Stems. As part of the event I got paired up to photograph headshots of the oh-so-talented Colorado wedding coordinator Michelle Gillette. Michelle is the owner and mastermind behind Dramatic Events, a full-service boutique wedding planning company based in Denver. Here are a few of Michelle along with Catherine Durante, also part of the Dramatic Events team. Aren’t they adorable? Here are a few of my favorites..

Just a few headshots from a recent portrait session at the studio.. Jojo is a classical musician (she plays the violin, viola, and piano) and wanted some updated portraits of herself, as well as a few with her instrument. She is so natural in front of the camera – completely relaxed and at ease. I love these dramatic shots of her in front of my velvety curtain – gorgeous!

Amazing high school senior portrait session yesterday!! Look how incredibly stunning she is, so much fun to work with and such a natural in front of the lens. Plus we had the most perfect Colorado backdrop – check out the thicket of wild sweet pea flowers in the shots below. Special thanks to Henry for being my stalwart assistant, and to all of you for braving the wild (bees, mosquitos, cacti, oh my!) in search for the perfect shot. As promised a few of my faves..

Last weekend I attended an all-day shooting workshop in downtown Denver with the PPC (Professional Photographers of Colorado). The focus was high school senior portrait photography, and it was a blast – grungy urban locations with great textures, wonderful senior high school models, and an amazing group of talented photographers.
